FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

COMPATIBILITY & CHOOSING

Do you also supply the cabin for a Hilux?

Yes, our cabin is currently also available for the Toyota Hilux. For other models, just get in touch; there’s a good chance that’s possible too.

Do you also have a cabin for a double cab?

At the moment we don’t offer a cabin for the Hilux double cab. Because of our high standards for living and storage space, and our focus on the best possible weight distribution (with the heavier components placed in front of the rear axle for the best handling), it simply isn’t feasible on a double cab platform.

Of course, you’re very welcome to come by and see the cabin in real life. Once you see and experience the layout, it usually becomes clear why we made these design choices.

Do you also have a cabin for a single cab?

Yes, we can also supply the Land Roamer cabin for a single cab. An extra storage compartment does need to be made to fit between the camper cabin and the vehicle cab. Get in touch with us to discuss the options.

Can you help us work out what we want for the vehicle?

Yes. We can help you decide which modifications make sense for your trip, and install them with our team.

Can you help find a suitable vehicle for the camper cabin?

We’re happy to help you think about which vehicle best suits your wishes and our camper cabin. Things like payload, wheelbase and handling play an important role here. The final choice is still personal and depends on your travel style and preferences. Actively searching for and offering vehicles isn’t part of our services at the moment, because we focus fully on developing and building our camper cabins.

TRAVEL & OFF-ROAD

Can a fixed camper cabin handle the same tough 4×4 routes as an expedition pick-up with a roof tent?

Yes, our fixed camper cabin is designed specifically to handle the same rough 4×4 tracks as an expedition pick-up with a roof tent. Thanks to the integrated construction, the low centre of gravity and the optimal weight distribution, the pick-up keeps its off-road abilities without giving up driving comfort and stability. Where traditional expedition vehicles often compromise on living space and protection from extreme weather, our cabin gives you the best of both worlds: real off-road performance combined with the comfort and insulation of a high-end camper.

Is a pick-up with a fixed cabin also worth it if you don’t drive off-road?

Absolutely! When developing the cabin, we focused on liveability, luxury and handling. If you drive a standard pick-up with a fixed Land Roamer cabin, you won’t feel like you’re driving a camper and you can easily keep up with traffic. And at the same time, you can enjoy your surroundings without a worry.

What if something on the cabin breaks during a trip abroad?

The Pioneer is built with components that are available worldwide. Because the pick-up stays technically standard, maintenance or repairs can in principle be done at regular garages. With electrical faults, we can often take a look remotely via the Victron system.

How was the Pioneer tested for reliability?

The production model was tested hard for thirteen months in South America. It handled temperatures from 40°C to −10°C and was driven from sea level up to 5,100 metres. Conditions like beaches, salt, desert, river crossings and long washboard roads were tested thoroughly too. So we know the Pioneer is practical, reliable and suited to all kinds of travel conditions.
